About Me

My experience in the mental health profession dates back to the early 1980s when I worked as a psychometric assistant in an inpatient hospital in the Midwest while studying for my Bachelor's degree. It wasn’t until the late ‘90s that I settled on psychology as a career choice. During graduate school, I devoted nearly all of my academic writing and research to anxiety disorders. For over 10 years now, I have been practicing psychotherapy, both inpatient and outpatient. I am a full-time private practitioner in the Los Angeles area. I also write and speak publicly about mental health and social issues. My licenses, certifications and a few current career highlights include:

  • Licensed Marriage and Famly Therapist in California (MFC43599)
  • Board Certified Professional Counselor, American Psychotherapy Association
  • Certified Forensic Consultant, American College of Forensic Examiners
  • Clinical Supervisor of post-Masters MFT interns
  • Consultant for therapists, attorneys, and institutions on standard of care issues in psychotherapy
  • Editorial Advisory Board Member, Annals of the American Psychotherapy Association, a peer-reviewed academic journal

I am a participating provider in the Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation (OCF) referral service. I am a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the American Psychotherapy Association, and the National Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists.
